5/    Do you know what should be in your Employers First Aid Kit?

5b/    Do you know who is your appointed First Aider at work?

Well through this blog I intend to answer these questions/topics so you have that information at your fingertips.

How much should our children know about First Aid? Well depending on their understanding. You should teach your child what is an emergency and how to call for help!

Ask yourself, can they use the telephone, children love to play with phones. If they know how to punch in numbers to connect a call, teach them 999.

They also need to know your address, they will be asked by the operator.

Do you have any medical conditions?  i.e. Diabetes or Epilepsy?

Would your child know what to do if you were unconscious?

If  you take nothing else from this blog, teach your child, if they cannot wake you and there is no other adult in the house to use to telephone to connect to 999 and ask for an ambulance. Have them know your address.

What age should you teach this?

Primary school children are ideal or as soon as they can learn your address to recite to an operator and how to contact the emergency services of 999.
The Red Cross believes children should learn the basics; however it is no good if your children know the basics of First Aid if you do not.

First With Iain can offer training to children and parents. Courses can be tailored to meet your needs.

Did you know that all adults working with children need a First Aid qualification which is Ofsted approved?

Would you know what to do in an emergency with your child while you are waiting for the emergency services to arrive. Seconds/minutes count!
